As I anticipate the Chrome Web Store opening either on Monday or Tuesday,
I’m curious as to what it might look like and how it will function.
I’ve been developing for the Web Store since the news came out about it.
I feel I’m a bit ahead of the curve when it come to the “Chrome Web Store.”
I’m not sure how the apps that I have developed with function, but it feels like an early Christmas present from Google!
I’m sure I’ll write more soon.
Hey got your app today. Pretty good, but I wish that it would highlight text while typing, and I’m having trouble getting it to save my work. Needs a decent amount of work, but it looks like an excellent project.
Steven thanks for buying Chrome Editor. There is much more in development. I’m working on new features.
As for the saving issue there are multiple ways to save. You can save to a local db, save as you type, and save to your desktop.
I’ve been building Chrome Editor on Google’s Dev build so hopefully all features will become available as Google updates the Beta, and Stable channels.
I hope that answers your questions.
Thanks, I’ll try it in my dev browser and see if it fixes it. The save to desktop wasn’t working in chrome beta, so I’ll try it out and see. I got this app mostly because I want to develop web apps from a Chrome OS notebook, and this app seems to be the best way to do it right now.
Hi, nice job and simple 🙂
Could you consider the line number as well? And the option to save the file to localhost instead of desktop.
Thanks, Monchu
I never considered saving to a localhost like a ftp before thanks for the great idea.
If you run the highlighter, you can see the line numbers of your code.
A better implementation might be on the way.
Hey, one more major suggestion. Could you implement the ability to send code as a file to an email address? This would make it easy to move files from the editor to a site. It would be a good work around until you could support ftp, and until the save button works. (I tried it in Chrome Beta 8, Chrome Beta 9, and Chrome Canary 10 without success. It just won’t save to the desktop. Other save features work, but aren’t as useful as saving as a file.) Thanks again. I can’t wait to see how this project evolves.
Steven,
I’m not running into any issues on my end here.
The export to file uses flash 10 to do it.
I’m using Chrome Beta (9.0.597.19 beta) on Windows XP, and everything is working properly.
I will definitly look into more great ideas to make this the best offline browser code editor I can.
Have you tried the new import feature?
Maybe you should try uninstalling flash and reinstalling it.
Check your plug-ins go to “chrome://plugins”
You can also try to change your flash settings by visiting “http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager03.html”
I hope that might solve your issues.
Thanks for all your help,
Bryan
Yeah, no problem. I’ll look into the flash issue and see what I can find out.
Ok, thanks for your help. After fiddling with settings for a while and trying again, it seems to work fine now. Not sure what the issue was, but I think its fixed. The import feature is cool, I hadn’t seen it before, but definitely handy. I look forward to your next update.
Hey Bryan,
Have you seen ShiftEdit?
With all the features that you have right now and the ability to number code lines and highlight syntax like them, you’d have a killer app. I’m on a CR-48 and have been dying for an app like yours with those features.
Your app is the only I’ve paid for and would heartily recommend it to everyone I know if it had those features. Otherwise, it’s a hard sale.
Good Luck with the dev and thanks for the great, continually improving product
